Course Overview

The Level 1 Award in Food Safety in Catering is specifically aimed at those that work in a low-risk role, where there is an element of food handling, but they would not be involved in the preparation of food, such as bar and waiting staff, kitchen porters, stock room or store staff etc. The course is also ideal as an introduction to food safety practices for school or college staff.

  • The importance of personal hygiene and keeping work areas clean and hygienic in a catering environment.
  • Personal responsibilities for food safety and how to keep food safe in a catering environment.
How is this Course assessed

Assessment is by a Multiple choice exam paper
Course Duration

4 contact hours normally deliver over half a day, 09:30 – 13:45

Delivery Type
Face-to-Face or Qualify at Home.
Course Qualification
Upon successful completion of the course, you will gain the Level 1 Award in Food Safety in Catering
Prerequisite
  • It is also advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in English and maths, or equivalent.
Re-Qualification
As with all food safety training it is recommended that staff undergo regular refresher training, it is best practice that this is every 3-years.
